The RRAAM is seeking an Executive Director (E.D.) who will convey with enthusiasm the Museum’s
mission. The E.D. has a variety of responsibilities from managing the budget to overseeing the
museum’s exhibits, programs, and marketing strategies. The Executive Director reports to the Board
of Directors and supervises the daily operations and management of the museum which includes
staffing and visitor services.
Required Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in art & culture, history, business or nonprofit management, accounting, or
another related field; equivalent relevant professional experience will also be considered
● Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to lead,
recruit, and manage museum staff
● Demonstrated leadership in collaboration, network-building, and teamwork and the ability to
build rapport with diverse teams and stakeholders
● Relevant experience in overall management of staff and facility operations
Preferred Qualifications
● Master’s or advanced degree in museum studies, historical preservation, and/or business or
nonprofit management, accounting, or another related field
● Ability to understand and analyze the museum’s financial statements and monthly spending and
take part in the administration of grant funding
● Successful history of securing public and private funding i.e. fundraising, membership campaigns
and sponsorship events
● Relevant professional experience in budget preparation, strategic planning, and the facilitation
of professional meetings
Responsibilities
● Serve as the key spokesperson for the RRAAM with enthusiasm and appreciation for the
museum’s mission, local history, exhibitions, and programs
● Manage the museum’s volunteer and paid staff as well as the museum’s day-to-day operations,
ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to budgets while maintaining high-quality
programming.
● Plan and execute a variety of programs, workshops, lectures, and events that engage visitors of
all ages.
● Cultivate relationships and partnerships with cultural organizations, educational institutions,
community groups, and other stakeholders to broaden the museum's reach.
● Establish and manage donor relationships and ensure proper stewardship of current and future
contributions.
● Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion within the museum's operations, exhibitions, and
programs.
● Promote a welcoming and inclusive environment for visitors, staff, and volunteers from all
backgrounds.
